Andrey Arshavin admits he would like to return to Zenit St Petersburg to end his career.

The Russian international left Zenit for Arsenal in a January transfer worth around £12million, but he admits he wants to eventually return to his former club.

“I played for Zenit for a long time and now I want to play abroad and then return to St Petersburg to finish off my career there,” he told Radio Zenit.

Arshavin spent nine years at the Russian club, winning the Premier League, the Russian Cup and the Uefa Cup during this period.

What do you think? Should Arshavin shut up and concentrate on playing and giving 100% for the Gunners or should he be allowed to voice his opinions like this? You decide.

David Beckham last night backed Theo Walcott to come through the toughest test of his fledgling England career.

The Arsenal winger was substituted at half-time in Kazakhstan as Fabio Capello showed he can be ruthless even towards England’s best young stars.

Walcott, 20, burst onto the world stage with his stunning hat-trick which tore Croatia apart in Zagreb last September.

But since dislocating his shoulder before the friendly against Germany in November and missing much of the season through injury, he has struggled to play such a key role for Capello.

Arsenal’s disappointing domestic run-in saw his form dip and he now faces a battle to keep his place in the starting line-up for England’s World Cup qualifier with Andorra on Wednesday.

But Beckham had words of encouragement for his young protege as Walcott looks to follow in the former England captain’s illustrious foot steps down the right wing.
